Sourcing & Procurement

The hard-to-find, the just-right, the “you'll-know-it-when-you-see-it.” Sourcing for home makers and designers alike — one piece or many — with a deep network and a genuine love of the hunt.

Spatial Styling

Working with what you have or are acquiring, the goal is making it feel like it was always meant to look this way. No full redesign required — just a skilled eye and a willingness to move things around until they're just right.

Real Estate Staging

A well-staged home sells faster and for more. Working with sellers and their agents, the focus is on making spaces feel smart, inviting, and easy to imagine living in — using what’s already there wherever possible, and supplementing thoughtfully where it counts.

Commercial Curation

This is the finishing layer — developing, sourcing, and installing an art and objects plan that reflects who a business is at its core. Everything that makes a designed space feel finished rather than just furnished.

Sourcing & Procurement FAQ

It starts with a conversation about what you’re looking for — a specific piece, a feeling, a gap in a room. We draw on a deep network of dealers, makers, auction houses, and private sources to find the right thing, then present options for your review.

Both. Matthew works seamlessly alongside designers as a sourcing partner, and directly with individuals who don’t have a designer on the project.

Not at all — a single piece is a perfectly good place to start. If you know exactly what you need, the search can be focused accordingly. And if you have an expansive wishlist and want a trusted partner to work through it systematically, that’s equally welcome. The engagement fits the ask.

A flat fee is charged for most sourcing projects, agreed upon at the start. For pieces that require substantial research or an extended search, an hourly rate may apply instead. Either way, the fee structure is clear before any work begins. Shipping and delivery are handled separately and coordinated as part of the process.

It depends on what you’re looking for. Common pieces can turn around quickly. Rare or highly specific finds take longer — and you’ll receive an honest timeline at the start of the engagement.

Spatial Styling FAQ

Interior design typically involves architectural planning, construction, and a comprehensive room-by-room plan. Spatial styling works with what’s already there — arranging, editing, and layering to make a space feel intentional and alive. No blueprints, no contractors. Matthew also works alongside interior designers as a dedicated art and objects collaborator — sourcing and placing the pieces that give a designed room its personality and point of view.

The work starts with what’s already in the room. Sometimes the right edit is subtractive — removing or rearranging what you have. New pieces are introduced only when they genuinely add something.

It usually starts with a walk-through conversation, followed by a working session in the space. Most engagements are completed in one or two visits.

Engagements are priced as either an hourly rate or a flat fee, determined at the start based on what the project needs. Spatial styling is designed to be focused and efficient — sometimes that’s a few hours, sometimes a full day, occasionally more for larger homes or more complex challenges. This isn’t a months-long engagement. It’s a skilled eye applied exactly where and when you need it.

A single room to a whole house. Scope and pricing are discussed upfront.

Yes. We work in the Chicago area and throughout the NWI-Michiana region. Travel further afield is considered on a project basis — reach out and ask.

Real Estate Staging FAQ

Staging is the art of presenting a home so buyers can see its full potential. The right arrangement, the right objects, the right edit — it changes how a space photographs and how it feels in person. Staged homes consistently sell faster and closer to asking price.

Homes with a story to tell. Matthew’s eye is particularly well suited to architecturally distinct, design-forward, or historically interesting properties — the kinds of spaces where generic staging would actually work against the home. If your property has character, that’s something to lean into, not neutralize.

Both. Occupied homes are edited and styled to feel their best. Vacant homes can be partially or fully staged depending on budget and timeline.

The preference is always to work with what’s already in the home — it’s more economical and often more authentic. When pieces need to be supplemented or swapped out, that can be arranged as part of the engagement.

Staging is priced as a flat fee or hourly rate based on the size of the home and scope of work, agreed upon upfront. Any rental or procurement of additional pieces is handled separately.

Before the listing photos are taken, ideally with enough lead time to source anything needed. The earlier the better — but a pre-market refresh is always worth doing even on a tight timeline.

Yes — and it’s often the most efficient way to work. Agents who want a trusted staging partner for their listings are welcome to reach out directly.

Commercial Curation FAQ

Hospitality, retail, corporate offices, and creative studios — any commercial space where atmosphere, art, and objects matter.

Your interior designer handles the architecture, furniture plan, and finish selections. That layer on top — the art, objects, and ephemera that make a space feel like it has a point of view — is exactly the work. The two roles are complementary, not overlapping. Matthew actively enjoys working as part of a design team, and a number of his commercial relationships are with designers who bring him in specifically for this layer. If you’re a designer looking for a trusted objects and art collaborator, we’d love to hear from you.

The earlier the better. When we’re part of the conversation during the planning phase, there’s time to source thoughtfully — finding the right pieces rather than the available ones, and making sure the objects layer is integrated with the overall vision rather than added as an afterthought. That said, it’s equally possible to plug in closer to the finish line, or come into a completed space that just needs its personality. There’s no wrong time to make a space feel more like itself.

Commercial engagements are priced as either an hourly rate or a negotiated project fee, determined at the start based on scope. This is separate from the cost of any goods sourced and acquired for the space. Everything is agreed upon upfront or managed transparently if plans change.

Either. We can audit what you have, identify what’s worth keeping, and build around it — or start from scratch if that’s what the project calls for.

Yes — the project goes from sourcing to final placement. That includes coordinating delivery, art hanging, and installation logistics, as well as the hands-on work of arranging objects and thinking carefully about how plants and greenery interact with the pieces around them. Nothing is considered finished until the whole room is working together.

We’re based in the Indiana Dunes and work regularly in Chicago and the broader Michiana region. Larger commercial projects outside that area are considered case by case.
